The OTTER study is a randomized control trial led by Drs. Philip Fisher (PI), Elliot Berkman (Co-I) and Nicole Giuliani (Co-I) at the University of Oregon. This study recruits mothers currently in treatment for opioid-use disorder who have children between 0 and 36 months of age. OTTER aims to (1) adapt FIND for opioid-using women who are parenting; (2) quantify main effects of FIND on intervention targets (changes in responsive caregiving) and related maternal and child outcomes; and (3) use fMRI to identify theory-driven process-level neural mechanisms underlying FIND effects, determine moderations of intervention impact including child and caregiver variables, and examine intervention fidelity and dosage. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive FIND coaching or an active control coaching program.
