Benjamin Nelson, MS, is a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Oregon, under the co-mentorship of Dr. Nick Allen and Dr. Heidemarie Laurent. He is currently working on the Transitions in Parenting of Teenagers Study directed by Dr. Nick Allen and Dr. Lisa Sheeber, the Translation in Adolescent Girls Study under Dr. Jennifer Pfeifer and Dr. Nick Allen, as well as the You and Your Baby Study with Dr. Heidemarie Laurent. He recently received a Mind and Life 1440 Research Grant to study the impacts of early relational experiences and stress physiology on mother and infant telomere length as well as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Honorable Mention. His current research interests focus on the ways in which relational experiences interact with psychophysiological pathways to influence the onset and maintenance of psychopathology and subsequent physical health outcomes (i.e., inflammation and biological aging).
